Trine Enchanted Edition is the updated release for “Trine,” a 2009 side-scrolling platforming video game. Trine takes place in a medieval fantasy setting and was released on Microsoft Windows, PS3, PS4, MacOS, and Linux. Here’s how to play Trine Enchanted Edition on your Linux PC.
Trine Enhanced Edition works on Linux quite well, but only with the help of the Linux release of Steam. For this reason, we must demonstrate how to set up the latest release of Steam on your Linux computer.
Install Steam
Installing Steam on Linux is best done with the terminal. Open up a terminal window on the Linux desktop by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T on the keyboard to start the installation. Or, search for “Terminal” in the app menu and launch it that way.
With the terminal window open and ready to use, the installation can begin. Using the instructions outlined below, set up Steam according to the Linux operating system you currently use.
Ubuntu
If you’d like to get the latest Steam release working on Ubuntu, use the apt install command below.
sudo apt install steam
Debian
It is possible to install Steam on Debian. However, you’ll have to download the DEB package to your computer. To download the latest Steam release to your Debian PC, use the wget download command below.
wget https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/installer/steam.deb
With the DEB package is done downloading to your computer, the installation of Steam can begin. Using the dpkg command down below, set up Steam.
sudo dpkg -i steam.deb
After installing the Steam DEB package onto your computer, you’ll need to correct any dependencies that failed to install during the setup process. To fix the errors, use the apt-get install -f command.
sudo apt-get install -f
Arch Linux
Steam is on Arch Linux. If you want to set it up on your computer, you’ll have to enable the “mutlilib” software repository. To do that, open up the /etc/pacman.conf file in your favorite text editor (as root).
Once the text editor opens the text file, scroll down and locate the “multilib” section. Then, remove the # symbol from directly in front of it. Also, remove the # symbols from the lines directly below. When done, save the edits and run the command below.
sudo pacman -Syy
Finally, install the latest release of Steam onto your Arch Linux computer using the following
sudo pacman -S steam
Fedora/OpenSUSE
Those on Fedora or OpenSUSE Linux have the ability to install Steam from the software repositories included with their operating systems. However, the Flatpak release of Steam works a lot better on these operating systems, so we suggest following those instructions instead.
Flatpak

After setting up the Flatpak runtime on your computer, the installation of Steam can begin. Using the two commands below, get Steam working on your computer.
flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo flatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam
Install Trine Enchanted Edition on Linux
Once the Steam app is installed on your Linux PC, open up the app. Then, log into your account using your user credentials. When logged in, follow along with the step-by-step instructions below to get Trine Enchanted Edition up and running.
Step 1: Open up the “Steam” menu inside of Steam. Then, select the “Settings” button to access the Steam settings area. From there, find the “Steam Play” section and check both the “Enable Steam Play for supported titles” box as well as the “Enable Steam Play for all other title” box. Click “OK” when done to save.
Step 2: Inside Steam, find the “Store” button, and click on it with the mouse to access the Steam store page. Once on the store page, find the search box, and click on it with the mouse. Then, type in “ Trine Enchanted Edition” into the text box. Press Enter to view the results.
Step 3: Click on “Trine Enchanted Edition” in the search results to access the game’s store page. Then, look on the Trine Enchanted Edition page for the green “Add to cart” button. Select it to purchase the game for your account.
Step 4: Click on the “Library” button inside of Steam. Then, look through your Steam library for “Trine Enchanted Edition.” When you’ve found it, select it to access the game’s library page.
On the Trine Enchanted Edition library page, find the blue “INSTALL” button and click on it to install the game to your computer.
Step 5: The installation process will take a bit of time to complete. The blue “INSTALL” button will become a green “PLAY” button when the process is done. Select it to start up the game!
