However, if you\u2019d like to play PlanetSide 2 on your Linux system, you\u2019ll need to set up Steam.<\/p>\n<h3>Install Steam<\/h3>\n<p>To set up Steam on your Linux PC, start by launching a terminal window. You can launch a terminal window on the Linux desktop by pressing <strong>Ctrl + Alt + T<\/strong> on the keyboard. Or, search for \u201cTerminal\u201d in the app menu and launch it that way.<\/p>\n<p>With the terminal window open, the installation can begin. Follow the installation instructions below to get Steam working on your Linux system.<\/p>\n<h4>Ubuntu<\/h4>\n<p>On Ubuntu, the Steam application is installable via the <strong>apt install<\/strong> command down below.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo apt install steam\n<\/pre>\n<h4>Debian<\/h4>\n<p>Users on Debian will need to download Steam from Valve to install it manually. To get your hands on the latest release of Steam, make use of the following <strong>wget<\/strong> download command.<\/p>\n<pre>\nwget https:\/\/steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net\/client\/installer\/steam.deb\n<\/pre>\n<p>The installation can begin with the Steam DEB package downloaded to your computer. Using the <strong>dpkg<\/strong> command below, install the latest version of Steam on your Debian system.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo dpkg -i steam.deb\n<\/pre>\n<p>Finally, correct any dependency errors that may have occurred during the installation process with <strong>apt-get install -f<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo apt-get install -f\n<\/pre>\n<h4>Arch Linux<\/h4>\n<p>Steam is on Arch Linux in the \u201cmultilib\u201d software repository. To get it working on your computer, you\u2019ll need to enable this repo. To enable it, open up the <code>\/etc\/pacman.conf<\/code> file in your favorite text editor (as root).<\/p>\n<p>Inside the file, find the \u201cmultilib\u201d line and remove the # symbol from in front. Then, remove the symbol from the lines directly below it as well. Then, save the edits and re-sync Arch with the official repos using the <strong>pacman<\/strong> command.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo pacman -Syy\n<\/pre>\n<p>Finally, once the \u201cmultilib\u201d software repository is up and running, you\u2019ll be able to install Steam with the <strong>pacman -S<\/strong> command.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo pacman -S steam\n<\/pre>\n<h4>Fedora\/OpenSUSE<\/h4>\n<p>If you\u2019re using Fedora Linux or OpenSUSE Linux, you\u2019ll be able to install Steam through software sources included out of the box. However, the Flatpak release of Steam works much better on these operating systems, so we suggest following those instructions instead.<\/p>\n<h4>Flatpak<\/h4>\n<p>The Flatpak release of Steam is easy to get going. However, you\u2019ll first need to set up the Flatpak runtime on your computer. To set up the runtime, follow our guide on the subject.<\/p>\n<p>With the Flatpak runtime set up, the installation of Steam can begin. Using the two <strong>flatpak<\/strong> commands below, install the Steam app on your Linux system.<\/p>\n<pre>\nflatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https:\/\/flathub.org\/repo\/flathub.flatpakrepo\n<\/pre>\n<pre>\nflatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam\n<\/pre>\n<h3>Install PlanetSide 2 on Linux<\/h3>\n<p>With Steam set up, open up the app and log in using your user credentials. Then, follow the step-by-step instructions below to get PlanetSide 2 working on Linux.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> Find the \u201cSteam\u201d menu inside the Steam app and click on it with the mouse to access the Steam menu. From there, click on the \u201cSettings\u201d button to load up the Steam settings area.<\/p>\n<p>Inside the Steam settings area, click on the \u201cSteam Play\u201d section. Then, check both the \u201cEnable Steam Play for supported titles\u201d box and the \u201cEnable Steam Play for all other titles\u201d box.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll also need to set \u201cRun other titles with\u201d to \u201cProton Experimental.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> Locate the \u201cStore\u201d button inside the Steam app and click on it with the mouse. Then, click on the search box with the mouse in the Steam store. Type in \u201cPlanetSide 2\u201d in the search box and press <strong>Enter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-415096 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-play-planetside-2-on-linux.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"487\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Look through the search results for \u201cPlanetSide 2\u201d. Once you\u2019ve found the game, click on it to load the game\u2019s Steam store page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong> After loading up PlanetSide 2\u2019s store page, locate the green \u201cPlay Now\u201d button and select it to download and install PlanetSide 2 to your computer instantly. Then, locate \u201cPlanetSide 2\u201d and right-click on it with the mouse.<\/p>\n<p>In the right-click menu, select \u201cProperties.\u201d Then, find the \u201cSet launch options\u201d button and add the following code to it.<\/p>\n<p><code>%command% \u2013disable-gpu<\/code><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 5:<\/strong> With the code added to the PlanetSide 2 launch options, find the green \u201cPLAY\u201d button to start up PlanetSide 2 on your Linux PC.
