First, press the Win\u00a0<\/strong>button on the keyboard. By pressing this button, you will open up the \u201cActivities\u201d search window. In this search window, type out \u201cUbuntu Software\u201d or \u201cSoftware.\u201d After that, click on the \u201cUbuntu Software\u201d or \u201cSoftware\u201d search result to launch the app.<\/p>\n

Inside the Ubuntu Software application, find the search icon in the top-left corner and click on it with the mouse. When you click on this icon, a search box will appear.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the search box, type out \u201cGimp.\u201d When you type out the \u201cGimp\u201d search term,\u00a0 Ubuntu Software should immediately show search results. Look through these search results for \u201cGNU Image Manipulation Program\u201d\u00a0 and click on it with the mouse.<\/p>\n

When you click on \u201cGNU Image Manipulation Program\u201d in the search results, you will be taken to the Gimp application page in Ubuntu Software. At this point, locate the \u201cInstall\u201d button, and click on it with the mouse.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Another way of getting Gimp working on Ubuntu is via Flatpak. While the traditional installation of Gimp should work fine with most Ubuntu users, it is also possible to get Gimp via Flatpak, if you prefer.<\/p>\n
To get Gimp working as a Flatpak package on Ubuntu, you will need to install the Flatpak runtime first. The Flatpak runtime must be installed because Ubuntu doesn\u2019t offer support for it out of the box like Fedora or other Linux operating systems.<\/p>\n
To get the Flatpak runtime set up on Ubuntu, follow this guide on the subject. It goes over exactly how you can get everything working.
