The reason? It\u2019s a simple installation process, and the user doesn\u2019t have to interact with the terminal at all! Here\u2019s how to get Gimp working on your Ubuntu system using Ubuntu Software Center.<\/p>\n<p>First, press the <strong>Win\u00a0<\/strong>button on the keyboard. By pressing this button, you will open up the \u201cActivities\u201d search window. In this search window, type out \u201cUbuntu Software\u201d or \u201cSoftware.\u201d After that, click on the \u201cUbuntu Software\u201d or \u201cSoftware\u201d search result to launch the app.<\/p>\n<p>Inside the Ubuntu Software application, find the search icon in the top-left corner and click on it with the mouse. When you click on this icon, a search box will appear.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the search box, type out \u201cGimp.\u201d When you type out the \u201cGimp\u201d search term,\u00a0 Ubuntu Software should immediately show search results. You can do this by pressing\u00a0<strong>Ctrl + Alt + T\u00a0<\/strong>on the keyboard or searching for \u201cTerminal\u201d in the app menu. Once the terminal window is open, execute the following <strong>apt install\u00a0<\/strong>command below with the \u201cgimp\u201d package to install Gimp.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo apt install gimp\n<\/pre>\n<p>After typing in the above command, the Ubuntu terminal will ask for your password. Enter your user account password and press the\u00a0<strong>Enter\u00a0<\/strong>key to continue.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve entered your password, Ubuntu will ask if you want to install Gimp. Press the\u00a0<strong>Y\u00a0<\/strong>button on the keyboard to confirm you indeed want to install the Gimp package. The Flatpak runtime must be installed because Ubuntu doesn\u2019t offer support for it out of the box like Fedora or other Linux operating systems.<\/p>\n<p>To get the Flatpak runtime set up on Ubuntu, follow this guide on the subject. It goes over exactly how you can get everything working. Once the Flatpak runtime is configured, use the\u00a0<strong>flatpak remote-add\u00a0<\/strong>command below to get the Flathub app store set up on your computer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<pre>\nflatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https:\/\/flathub.org\/repo\/flathub.flatpakrepo\n<\/pre>\n<p>After setting up the Flathub app store on your Linux PC, your Flatpak system will have access to thousands of Flathub apps, including the Gimp Flatpak. Flathub is a great resource, and it\u2019ll allow you to install the Gimp Flatpak package on your Ubuntu system easily.<\/p>\n<p>To start installing the Gimp Flatpak on your Ubuntu Linux PC, make use of the <strong>flatpak install\u00a0<\/strong>command below.
