It\u2019s a fantastic tool that can do a deep scan of your system and erase app history. Bleachbit is open-source and works on everything from web browser app history to photo thumbnails, etc.<\/p>\n<h3>Installing Bleachbit on Ubuntu<\/h3>\n<p>Sadly, the Bleachbit application isn\u2019t a default Ubuntu application and doesn\u2019t come pre-installed. For this reason, you must install it before attempting to use it on your system.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To start the installation of Bleachbit, open up the Ubuntu Software Center. To open up Ubuntu Software Center, press\u00a0<strong>Win\u00a0<\/strong>on the keyboard, search for \u201cUbuntu Software,\u201d and open up the app.<\/p>\n<p>Once the app is open, find the search box, type in \u201cBleachbit,\u201d and press the\u00a0<strong>Enter\u00a0<\/strong>key to view the search results. Look through the search results for \u201cBleachbit, and click on it with the mouse.<\/p>\n<p>After selecting \u201cBleachbit,\u201d look for the \u201cInstall\u201d button and click on it with the mouse. You\u2019ll then be prompted to enter your password. Do so. When your password is entered, Bleachbit will begin installing.<\/p>\n<p>Click \u201cLaunch\u201d when done to open up the app.<\/p>\n<h4>Terminal installation<\/h4>\n<p>Don\u2019t want to install the Bleachbit application on your Ubuntu PC using the\u00a0Ubuntu Software Center? Try setting it up with the terminal. To start, launch a terminal window by pressing\u00a0<strong>Ctrl + Alt + T\u00a0<\/strong>on the keyboard.<\/p>\n<p>Once the terminal window is open, use the\u00a0<strong>apt install\u00a0<\/strong>command to install the \u201cbleachbit\u201d package on your computer.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo apt install bleachbit\n<\/pre>\n<p>Upon entering the command above, Ubuntu will ask for your password. Type it out and press the\u00a0<strong>Enter\u00a0<\/strong>key, then press\u00a0<strong>Y\u00a0<\/strong>to install the software.<\/p>\n<h3>Delete app history with Bleachbit<\/h3>\n<p>To delete app history on your Ubuntu PC with Bleachbit, start by launching the app. You can launch the app by searching for \u201cBleachbit\u201d in your Linux desktop\u2019s application menu.<\/p>\n<p>Once the Bleachbit program is open, follow the step-by-step instructions below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> In Bleachbit, look to the left-hand sidebar. Once in the sidebar, look for the app history you wish to clear. For example, to clear Discord app history, select the box next to \u201cDiscord,\u201d or for Firefox, select the box next to \u201cFirefox,\u201d etc.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-398199 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/ubuntu-delete-app-history-guide-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"723\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> After selecting all apps you wish to clear, find the \u201cPreview\u201d button in the app\u2019s top-left corner and click on it. When you click on \u201cPreview,\u201d Bleachbit will calculate the amount of space saved after deleting your app history.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong> Locate the \u201cClean\u201d button in the top-left hand corner of the app, and click on it. It\u2019s a system optimizer and all-around helpful tool for Linux that many in the community swear by. It has a built-in cleaning app that users can use to clear app history. Here\u2019s how to do it.<\/p>\n<h3>Installing Stacer on Ubuntu<\/h3>\n<p>Before attempting to use Stacer to clear app history on Ubuntu, you must install it. In the past, on AddictiveTips, we\u2019ve gone over how to install the Stacer application. Follow that guide to learn how to get the app working on your Ubuntu system.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve gotten Stacer installed on your Ubuntu PC, move on to the next section of the guide.<\/p>\n<h3>Delete app history with Stacer<\/h3>\n<p>To clear application history on Ubuntu with Stacer, open up the app by searching for it in your app menu. Once the Stacer application is open, follow the step-by-step instructions below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> In Stacer, look to the left-hand sidebar in the app for the broom icon, and click on it. The broom icon is the Stacer \u201cSystem Cleaner\u201d area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong>: Inside the System Cleaner area, check the box next to \u201cApplication Caches\u201d and \u201cApplication Logs\u201d.
