For this reason, you\u2019ll need to install the Linux version of Steam to get the game working.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>Install Steam<\/h3>\n<p>To install Steam on your Linux PC, open up a terminal window on the Linux desktop. To open up a terminal window, press\u00a0<strong>Ctrl + Alt + T\u00a0<\/strong>on the keyboard. Alternatively, search for \u201cTerminal\u201d in the app menu and open it that way.<\/p>\n<p>Once the terminal window is open and ready to use, follow along with the installation instructions outlined below to get Steam working on your Linux PC.<\/p>\n<h4>Ubuntu<\/h4>\n<p>On Ubuntu, you can install the Steam application by using the following\u00a0<strong>Apt\u00a0<\/strong>command below.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo apt install steam\n<\/pre>\n<h4>Debian<\/h4>\n<p>On Debian Linux, it is best to get the Steam app up and running by downloading the Steam DEB package directly, rather than dealing with the Steam included within Debian.<\/p>\n<p>To start the download, enter the following\u00a0<strong>wget<\/strong> command down below. This download will grab the Steam DEB package directly from Valve\u2019s website and place it into your home folder.<\/p>\n<pre>\nwget https:\/\/steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net\/client\/installer\/steam.deb\n<\/pre>\n<p>Now that the Steam app is done downloading, you\u2019ll be able to install the Steam DEB package onto your computer. Using the\u00a0<strong>dpkg\u00a0<\/strong>command, set up the Steam DEB package on your system.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo dpkg -i steam.deb\n<\/pre>\n<h4>Arch Linux<\/h4>\n<p>To play Steam games on Arch Linux, you\u2019ll need to have the \u201cmultilib\u201d software repository enabled. To enable this repository, open up your <code>Pacman.conf<\/code> file, and find the \u201cmultilib\u201d software repository, delete all instances of # and save it. Then, resync Pacman with the command below.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo pacman -Syy\n<\/pre>\n<p>Finally, install the Steam app on Arch Linux with the following\u00a0<strong>Pacman\u00a0<\/strong>command.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo pacman -S steam\n<\/pre>\n<h4>Fedora\/OpenSUSE<\/h4>\n<p>Both Fedora and OpenSUSE have the ability to install Steam with software repositories included out of the box. However, we feel that the Flatpak release of Steam works much better on these operating systems, and you should follow those instructions instead.<\/p>\n<h4>Flatpak<\/h4>\n<p>The Flatpak release of Steam works only if you enable the Flatpak runtime on your system. To enable the Flatpak runtime on your computer, please follow our in-depth guide on the subject.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Once the Flatpak runtime is installed and enabled on your system, you can install Steam. To install Steam, make use of the two commands below.<\/p>\n<pre>\nflatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https:\/\/flathub.org\/repo\/flathub.flatpakrepo\n<\/pre>\n<pre>\nflatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam\n<\/pre>\n<h3>Play Doom: Eternal working on Linux<\/h3>\n<p>With Steam installed on your Linux PC, open it up and log in with your account information. Then, follow the step-by-step instructions below to get Doom: Eternal working on Linux!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1:\u00a0<\/strong>Open up the Steam menu, and locate the \u201cSettings\u201d button to access the Steam settings area. Once inside of the Steam settings area, locate the \u201cSteam Play\u201d section, and check both the Enable Steam Play for supported titles\u201d box and the \u201cEnable Steam Play for all other titles\u201d box.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-293847 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-play-doom-eternal-on-linux.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"689\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Click the \u201cOK\u201d button to save your settings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> Find the \u201cStore\u201d button, and click on it to access the Steam store. From there, locate the blue \u201cINSTALL\u201d button, and click on it with the mouse.<\/p>\n<p>By selecting the blue \u201cINSTALL\u201d button, Steam will begin downloading Doom Eternal to your computer. This process may take a bit of time, as Doom Eternal is a huge game.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 5<\/strong>: When the download is complete, the blue \u201cINSTALL\u201d button will become a green \u201cPLAY\u201d button. Click on the green \u201cPLAY\u201d button to start up Doom Eternal!
