Unfortunately, these tools only work on the Linux release of Steam. As a result, you\u2019ll need to install the latest release of Steam for Linux.<\/p>\n<h3>Install Steam<\/h3>\n<p>To start the installation of Steam on your Linux PC, open up a terminal window. To open up a terminal window, press <strong>Ctrl + Alt + T<\/strong> on the keyboard. Or, open up the app menu and search for \u201cTerminal\u201d to open it.<\/p>\n<p>When the terminal window is open, follow along with the installation instructions below that correspond with the Linux operating system you use on your computer.<\/p>\n<h4>Ubuntu<\/h4>\n<p>To get Steam working on your Ubuntu PC, run the <strong>apt install<\/strong> command below.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo apt install steam\n<\/pre>\n<h4>Debian<\/h4>\n<p>To start installing Steam on your Debian Linux PC, you\u2019ll need to download the latest release of Steam from the Steam website. Then, using the <strong>wget<\/strong> command below, start the download.<\/p>\n<pre>\nwget https:\/\/steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net\/client\/installer\/steam.deb\n<\/pre>\n<p>When the download is complete, the installation of Steam can begin. Using the <strong>dpkg<\/strong> installation command below to install the DEB package on your computer.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo dpkg -i steam.deb\n<\/pre>\n<p>Now that Steam is installed on your Debian PC, you\u2019ll need to correct any dependency issues that may have occurred during the installation. To fix it, use the <strong>apt-get install -f<\/strong> command below.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo apt-get install -f\n<\/pre>\n<h4>Arch Linux<\/h4>\n<p>if you use Arch Linux, you\u2019ll be able to get Steam working through the \u201cmultilib\u201d software repository. To do this, start by opening up the <code>\/etc\/pacman.conf<\/code> file in your favorite text editor for editing.<\/p>\n<p>Locate the \u201c#multilib\u201d line, and remove the # symbol, as well as the symbols directly below it. After that, save the edits and use the <strong>pacman<\/strong> command below to re-sync with the Arch Linux repos.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo pacman -Syy\n<\/pre>\n<p>Finally, install Steam on your Arch system.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo pacman -S steam\n<\/pre>\n<h4>Fedora\/OpenSUSE<\/h4>\n<p>Both Fedora and OpenSUSE Linux have the ability to install Steam through included software repositories out of the box. That being said, the Flatpak release of Steam works much better, and we suggest you use those installation instructions instead.<\/p>\n<h4>Flatpak<\/h4>\n<p>Install Steam via Flatpak, open up a terminal window, use your package installer, and install the \u201cflatpak\u201d package. If you\u2019re having issues setting up the Flatpak runtime, follow along with our guide on the subject.<\/p>\n<p>When you\u2019ve gotten the Flatpak runtime up and running, use the two commands below to install the Steam app on your system.<\/p>\n<pre>\nflatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https:\/\/flathub.org\/repo\/flathub.flatpakrepo\n<\/pre>\n<pre>\nflatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam\n<\/pre>\n<h3>Install Sniper Elite on Linux<\/h3>\n<p>When Steam is installed on your system, log into your account using your Steam password. Then, follow the step-by-step installation instructions down below to get Sniper Elite up and running.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> Open up the Steam menu, and click on \u201cSettings\u201d to access the Steam settings. Once inside of the Steam settings, click on the \u201cSteam Play\u201d button to access the Steam Play area.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-293847 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-play-sniper-elite-on-linux.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"689\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Inside of the Steam Play area, check both the Enable Steam Play for supported titles\u201d box, as well as the \u201cEnable Steam Play for all other titles\u201d button.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> Click on the \u201cStore\u201d button to access the Steam Storefront. Once inside of the Steam Storefront, locate the search bar, and click on it with the mouse. Then, type in \u201cSniper Elite\u201d and press the <strong>Enter<\/strong> key to view the search results.<\/p>\n<p>Click on \u201cSniper Elite\u201d in the search results to access the game\u2019s Storefront page. On the page, locate the green \u201cAdd to cart\u201d button and click on it with the mouse to add the game to your cart. Once inside the library area, click on the search box. Type in \u201cSniper Elite\u201d to locate the game.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve located the game, click on the blue \u201cINSTALL\u201d button to start downloading and installing the game onto your computer. When the downloading process is complete, Sniper Elite will be set up on your Linux PC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4:<\/strong> After installing Sniper Elite, the blue \u201cINSTALL\u201d button will become a green \u201cPLAY\u201d button. Select this play button to start up the game. Keep in mind, when you click play the first time, Steam will need to configure the game.
