Yooka-Laylee works on Linux, but you\u2019ll only be able to play it on your Linux computer with the help of Steam. So, we must demonstrate how to install the Steam Linux client before continuing.<\/p>\n

Install Steam<\/h3>\n

To start installing Steam on your Linux PC, open up a terminal window on the Linux desktop by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T\u00a0<\/strong>on the keyboard. Or, search for \u201cTerminal\u201d in the app menu to launch it that way.<\/p>\n

Once the terminal window is open and ready to use, follow along with the installation instructions below that corresponds with the Linux OS you currently use.<\/p>\n

Ubuntu<\/h4>\n

On Ubuntu, you can get the Steam application up and running with the\u00a0Apt\u00a0<\/strong>command below.<\/p>\n

Debian<\/h4>\n
The easiest way to install Steam on Debian is to download the DEB package directly. Using the\u00a0wget\u00a0<\/strong>command below, grab the latest Steam release to your home folder.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\nwget https:\/\/steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net\/client\/installer\/steam.deb\n<\/pre>\n
When the DEB package is done downloading to your computer, the installation can begin. Using the\u00a0dpkg\u00a0<\/strong>command below, install the latest release of Steam on Debian.<\/p>\n
\nsudo dpkg -i steam.deb\n<\/pre>\n
Now that Steam is set up on your Debian Linux PC, you\u2019ll need to correct any dependency issues for Steam. To do that, use the following\u00a0apt-get install -f\u00a0<\/strong>command.<\/p>\n
\nsudo apt-get install -f\n<\/pre>\n
Arch Linux<\/h4>\n
On Arch Linux, it is possible to get Steam working so long as you have the \u201cmultilib\u201d software repository up and running. To do that, open up the \/etc\/pacman.conf<\/code> file in your favorite text editor.<\/p>\n
Now that the file is open in your text editor find the \u201cmultilib\u201d software repository, and remove the # symbol from it, as well as the lines directly below it. After that, save your edits, and close the editor. Then, Re-sync Arch Linux with the Arch repos.<\/p>\n
\nsudo pacman -Syy\n<\/pre>\n
\nsudo pacman -S steam\n<\/pre>\n
Fedora\/OpenSUSE<\/h4>\n
If you use Fedora or OpenSUSE Linux, you\u2019ll be able to install Steam through repos included with your operating system. That being said, the Flatpak release of Steam works better on these operating systems, and we suggest installing that instead.<\/p>\n
Flatpak<\/h4>\n
To get Steam working on your Linux PC via Flatpak, you\u2019ll first need to install the Flatpak runtime. To get the runtime up and running, please follow our guide on the subject.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Once the Flatpak runtime is up and running on your Linux system, you\u2019ll be able to install Steam with the two commands below.<\/p>\n
\nflatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https:\/\/flathub.org\/repo\/flathub.flatpakrepo\n<\/pre>\n
\nflatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam\n<\/pre>\n
Install Yooka-Laylee on Linux<\/h3>\n
Now that Steam is installed on your Linux system open it up and log into your account with your user information. Then, follow the step-by-step instructions below to get Yooka-Laylee up and running.<\/p>\n
Step 1:\u00a0<\/strong> To install Yooka-Laylee on your Linux PC, start by finding the \u201cStore\u201d button in Steam and click on it with the mouse. After that, you\u2019ll load up the Steam Storefront.<\/p>\n
On the Steam Storefront, find the search box and click on it with the mouse. Then, type in \u201cYooka-Laylee\u201d into the box. Finally, press the Enter\u00a0<\/strong>key to view the search results.<\/p>\n
