It is the second game in the Middle Earth series and is available for PS4, Windows, and Xbox One. Here\u2019s how you can play it on Linux.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-406226 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-play-middle-earth-shadow-of-war-on-linux.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Middle-earth: Shadow of War works on Linux quite well, thanks to Valve\u2019s Steam Play and Proton. To use these features to play the game, you\u2019ll have to install the Steam Linux app on your computer.<\/p>\n<h3>Install Steam<\/h3>\n<p>To install the Steam application on your Linux PC, open up a terminal window. For example, you can open up a terminal window on the Linux desktop and press <strong>Ctrl + Alt + T\u00a0<\/strong>on the keyboard. Or, search for \u201cTerminal\u201d in the app menu and launch it that way.<\/p>\n<p>Once the terminal window is open and ready to use, follow the installation instructions below that correspond with the Linux OS you currently use.<\/p>\n<h4>Ubuntu<\/h4>\n<p>To get Steam working on Ubuntu, use the following\u00a0<strong>Apt install\u00a0<\/strong>command down below.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo apt install steam\n<\/pre>\n<h4>Debian<\/h4>\n<p>To use Steam on Debian, you\u2019ll need to download the DEB package to your computer. To do that, use the following\u00a0<strong>wget\u00a0<\/strong>download command down below. This command will place the DEB package in your home folder.<\/p>\n<pre>\nwget https:\/\/steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net\/client\/installer\/steam.deb\n<\/pre>\n<p>After downloading the Steam DEB package to your computer, you\u2019ll need to install the software. Then, using the <strong>dpkg\u00a0<\/strong>installation command down below, set up Steam on Debian.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo dpkg -i steam.deb\n<\/pre>\n<p>Finally, correct any dependency issues on your Linux PC that may have occurred during the installation with the\u00a0<strong>apt-get install -f\u00a0<\/strong>command.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo apt-get install -f\n<\/pre>\n<h4>Arch Linux<\/h4>\n<p>To use Steam on Arch Linux, you\u2019ll have to have the \u201cmultilib\u201d software repository set up on the system. To do that, open up the \/etc\/pacman.conf file in your favorite text editor.<\/p>\n<p>Once the file is open in your favorite text editor, find the \u201cmultilib\u201d line, and delete the # symbol from in front of it. Also, delete this symbol from the lines directly below it.<\/p>\n<p>When done editing, save the file. Then, re-sync Arch Linux with the official software repos using the command below.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo pacman -Syy\n<\/pre>\n<p>Finally, install Steam on your Arch Linux system.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo pacman -S steam\n<\/pre>\n<h4>Fedora\/OpenSUSE<\/h4>\n<p>If you\u2019re on Fedora or OpenSUSE Linux, you\u2019ll be able to install Steam on your system with software repos included in the operating system. However, this version of Steam doesn\u2019t work as well as Flatpak, so we suggest following those instructions instead.<\/p>\n<h4>Flatpak<\/h4>\n<p>To get Steam working as a Flatpak program, you\u2019ll have to set up the Flatpak runtime on your computer. You can set up the Flatpak runtime on Linux by following along with our guide on the subject.<\/p>\n<p>When the Flatpak runtime is configured, you\u2019ll be able to install Steam. Using the two commands below, get the app set up on your system.<\/p>\n<pre>\nflatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https:\/\/flathub.org\/repo\/flathub.flatpakrepo\n<\/pre>\n<pre>\nflatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam\n<\/pre>\n<h3>Install Middle Earth: Shadow of War on Linux.<\/h3>\n<p>Now that Steam is set up on your Linux system, open it up and log in to Steam with your user credentials. Then, follow the step-by-step instructions below to get Middle Earth: Shadow of War working on Linux.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1:\u00a0<\/strong>Open up the \u201cSteam\u201d menu, and click on the \u201cSettings\u201d button to access the Steam settings. Then, from there, find the \u201cSteam Play\u201d button to open up Steam Play.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-293847 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-play-middle-earth-shadow-of-war-on-linux.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"689\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Inside the Steam Play area of the Steam settings, check both the \u201cEnable Steam Play for supported titles\u201d box and the \u201cEnable Steam Play for all other titles\u201d box. Finally, select the \u201cOK\u201d button to confirm your settings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> Locate the \u201cStore\u201d button, and select it to go to the Steam store. When on the Steam store, find the search box, and click on it with the mouse to search.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-406227 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-play-middle-earth-shadow-of-war-on-linux-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1026\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Inside of the search box, type in \u201cMiddle Earth: Shadow of War.\u201d Press the\u00a0<strong>Enter key\u00a0<\/strong>to view the search results. Next, click on \u201cMiddle Earth: Shadow of War.\u201d Finally, select \u201cMiddle Earth: Shadow of War\u201d to go to the game\u2019s store page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong> Find the green \u201cAdd to cart\u201d button and select it with the mouse to add the game to your Steam cart. Then, select the \u201cLibrary\u201d button.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4:<\/strong> Inside of your Steam library, find the search box and click on it. Then, type in \u201cMiddle Earth: Shadow of War.\u201d Next, select the game to access its Steam library page.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Look for the blue \u201cINSTALL\u201d button, and click on it with the mouse to start the download for the game.
