However, this feature is only available to users through the official Steam for Linux client. So, we must demonstrate how to install Steam on your Linux PC before setting up the game.<\/p>\n<h3>Install Steam<\/h3>\n<p>To get Steam working on your Linux PC, you\u2019ll need to open up a terminal window on the Linux desktop. You can open up a terminal window on the Linux desktop by pressing <strong>Ctrl + Alt + T<\/strong> on the keyboard. Alternatively, search for \u201cTerminal\u201d in the app menu and launch it that way.<\/p>\n<p>With the terminal window open and ready to use, the installation of Steam can begin. Using the installation instructions down below that corresponds with the Linux OS you currently use.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Ubuntu<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>On Ubuntu, the Steam app is straightforward to get working by using the <strong>apt install<\/strong> command below.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo apt install steam\n<\/pre>\n<h4><strong>Debian<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Those on Debian Linux can install Steam but must download the Steam DEB package directly from Valve. To get your hands on the latest Steam DEB package, use the <strong>wget<\/strong> download command below.<\/p>\n<pre>\nwget https:\/\/steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net\/client\/installer\/steam.deb\n<\/pre>\n<p>After downloading the latest Steam DEB package to your computer, you\u2019ll be able to install it. Using the <strong>dpkg -i<\/strong> command below, install Steam on Debian.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo dpkg -i steam.deb\n<\/pre>\n<p>With Steam installed on Debian, finish up the installation by correcting any missing dependencies using the <strong>apt-get install -f<\/strong> command.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo apt-get install -f\n<\/pre>\n<h4><strong>Arch Linux<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The Steam app is available for Arch Linux users. However, you will only be able to install it by enabling the \u201cMultilib\u201d software repository. Start by opening up \/etc\/pacman.conf in your favorite text editor (as root) to enable this repo.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Once the file is open in the text editor, look for \u201cmultilib\u201d and remove the # symbol from in front of the line. Also, remove this symbol from the lines directly below. Then, save the edits and re-sync Arch with the command below.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo pacman -Syy\n<\/pre>\n<p>Finally, install Steam on your computer using the command below.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo pacman -S steam\n<\/pre>\n<h4><strong>Fedora\/OpenSUSE<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Steam does work on Fedora and OpenSUSE, and users can install the software out of the box with software repositories included with these operating systems. That being said, the Flatpak release of Steam tends to work better on these operating systems, so we suggest following those instructions instead.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Flatpak<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>If you\u2019d like to get Steam working on Linux via a Flatpak, you\u2019ll need to start by adding the Flatpak runtime to your computer. Follow our guide to set up the latest Flatpak runtime on your computer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With the Flatpak runtime configured on your system, you\u2019ll be ready to install Steam. Using the two commands below, get Steam up and running on your system.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<pre>\nflatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https:\/\/flathub.org\/repo\/flathub.flatpakrepo\nflatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam\n<\/pre>\n<h3>Install The Room on Linux<\/h3>\n<p>Now that Steam is installed launch it on your computer. Then, follow the step-by-step instructions below to get The Room working on Linux!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> Open up the \u201cSteam\u201d menu and select it with the mouse. Once inside the \u201cSteam\u201d menu, select the \u201cSettings\u201d button to access the Steam settings. Then, click on the \u201cSteam Play\u201d button to access Steam Play settings.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-293847 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-play-the-room-on-linux-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"689\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Inside of the Steam Play settings, check both the box that says \u201cEnable Steam Play for supported titles\u201d and the \u201cEnable Steam Play for all other titles\u201d box. Click \u201cOK\u201d to confirm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> Find the \u201cStore\u201d button and click on it with the mouse. When you select this button, you\u2019ll be brought to the Steam store. From here, locate the search box, and click on it with the mouse.
