Here\u2019s how to use Ice Drive on Linux.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-408458 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-store-files-on-the-cloud-for-free-with-ice-drive-on-linux.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"586\"\/><\/p>\n<h2>Creating an Ice Drive account<\/h2>\n<p>To upload your Linux files to Ice Drive, you\u2019ll need first to set up a free account on their official website. Here\u2019s how to do it. First, start by going over to icedrive.net. Once you\u2019ve made it to the site, find the \u201csign up\u201d button and click on it with the mouse.<\/p>\n<p>When you select the \u201csign up\u201d button, you will see the pricing for Ice Drive. There is \u201clite,\u201d \u201cpro,\u201d and \u201cpro +.\u201d If you prefer to use a free account, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and select \u201cGet a FREE account.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After selecting the \u201cGet a FREE account\u201d button, you\u2019ll see the account creation page pop up on the screen. Write in your first name, last name, email address, and a memorable password. Be sure also to check the \u201cI agree to the Terms of Service\u201d button.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve filled out all of the text boxes, you\u2019ll be asked to confirm your email address. Check your email and enter the pin mailed to you. Then, click on the \u201cConfirm\u201d button to continue.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Installing Ice Drive on Linux<\/h2>\n<p>Now that you\u2019ve configured your Ice Drive account, you\u2019ll need to install the Ice Drive application on Linux. Sadly, the app isn\u2019t distributed via a DEB package, RPM package, or anything like that. Instead, it must be installed by either a universal AppImage file or a Snap package.<\/p>\n<h4>AppImage\u00a0<\/h4>\n<p>To start installing the Ice Drive application on your computer, head over to the Ice Drive download page. On the page, scroll down to \u201cportable app.\u201d Then, click on the drop-down menu. After selecting the drop-down menu, look for \u201cLinux\u201d and select the AppImage option, followed by \u201cDownload.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Once the file is downloaded, open up a terminal window on the Linux desktop. You can open up a terminal window by pressing <strong>Ctrl + Alt + T<\/strong> on the keyboard. Or, search for \u201cTerminal\u201d in the app menu.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With the terminal window open, use the <strong>CD<\/strong> command to move into the \u201cDownloads\u201d directory where the Ice Drive AppImage file is located.<\/p>\n<pre>\ncd ~\/Downloads\/\n<\/pre>\n<p>Next, use the <strong>mkdir<\/strong> command to create a new folder with the name \u201cAppImages.\u201d This folder will hold the Ice Drive AppImage file.<\/p>\n<pre>\nmkdir -p ~\/AppImages\/\n<\/pre>\n<p>After creating the new folder, use the <strong>mv<\/strong> command and move the Ice Drive AppImage file into the new \u201cAppImages\u201d folder.\u00a0<\/p>\n<pre>\nmv Icedrive_Portable_Linux-x64.AppImage ~\/AppImages\n<\/pre>\n<p>Next, move the terminal window into the \u201cAppImages\u201d folder using the <strong>CD<\/strong> command.<\/p>\n<pre>\ncd ~\/AppImages\/\n<\/pre>\n<p>Next, update the permissions of the Ice Drive AppImage using the <strong>chmod<\/strong> command below.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo chmod +x Icedrive_Portable_Linux-x64.AppImage\n<\/pre>\n<p>Finally, start up the app using the command below. Or, open up the \u201cAppImages\u201d folder using the Linux file manager and double-click on the Ice Drive AppImage file.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-408455 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-store-files-on-the-cloud-for-free-with-ice-drive-on-linux-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1170\"\/><\/p>\n<pre>\n.\/Icedrive_Portable_Linux-x64.AppImage\n<\/pre>\n<h4>Snap package<\/h4>\n<p>To get the Snap release of Ice Drive working on your Linux PC, ensure you have the latest Snapd runtime installed. Then, use the commands below to get the app working.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo snap install icedrive\n<\/pre>\n<h2>Use Ice Drive to store Linux files<\/h2>\n<p>Once the Ice Drive application is installed on your Linux PC, open up the app by either launching the AppImage file or running the Snap package from the app menu. When the app is open, log into your account using the UI.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-408455 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-store-files-on-the-cloud-for-free-with-ice-drive-on-linux-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1170\"\/><\/p>\n<p>After pressing the \u201cConnect\u201d button, you\u2019ll be taken to the Ice Drive app interface from the login menu. From here, uploading can begin. Find the cloud icon in the top-right corner and select it with the mouse.<\/p>\n<p>When you select the upload button, a pop-up window will appear. This window says, \u201cWhat would you like to upload.\u201d Select either the \u201cFolders\u201d button or the \u201cFiles\u201d button. Then use the pop-up window to browse for the item you wish to upload to your Ice Drive account.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-408458 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-store-files-on-the-cloud-for-free-with-ice-drive-on-linux.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"586\"\/><\/p>\n<p>With your file selected, Ice Drive will begin uploading to your account. The upload may take a couple of seconds or longer, depending on your internet speed. When the process is complete, Ice Drive will tell you that your file has been uploaded.<\/p>\n<p>When your file is uploaded to Ice Drive, it\u2019ll show up in the main folder UI. From here, you can select the item, and click on the Share button to share it, select \u201cDownload\u201d to download it, as well as many of the other available options.<\/p>\n<h3>Deleting files<\/h3>\n<p>Need to delete something from your Ice Drive account? Open up the Linux app, and find the file in the Ice Drive application. Once you\u2019ve found it, click on it with the mouse to select it.
