Even the Anti-cheat for multiplayer works thanks to updates by the developer to support Proton. However, to play Arma 3 on your Linux PC, you must install Steam.<\/p>\n<h3>Install Steam<\/h3>\n<p>Getting Steam working on Linux requires a terminal window. To open up a terminal window on the Linux desktop, press <strong>Ctrl + Alt + T<\/strong> on the keyboard. Or, search for \u201cTerminal\u201d in the app menu and launch it that way.<\/p>\n<p>The setup can begin with the terminal window open and ready to use. Follow the installation instructions below to get the latest release of Steam working on your computer.<\/p>\n<h4>Ubuntu<\/h4>\n<p>Execute the following apt install command to get Steam working on your Ubuntu system.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo apt install steam\n<\/pre>\n<h4>Debian<\/h4>\n<p>If you\u2019re on Debian, you\u2019ll need to install Steam via the official website. To download the latest release of Steam to your computer, make use of the following <strong>wget<\/strong> download command.<\/p>\n<pre>\nwget https:\/\/steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net\/client\/installer\/steam.deb\n<\/pre>\n<p>The installation can begin after downloading the latest Steam DEB package to your computer. Using the <strong>dpkg<\/strong> command below, install the newest release of Steam.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo dpkg -i steam.deb\n<\/pre>\n<p>Once the Steam app is installed, you\u2019ll have to correct any dependency errors that may have occurred during the installation process using the <strong>apt-get install<\/strong> <strong>-f<\/strong> command.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo apt-get install -f\n<\/pre>\n<h4>Arch Linux<\/h4>\n<p>On Arch Linux, Steam is only installable when the \u201cmultilib\u201d software repository is enabled. To enable this software repository, open up the <code>\/etc\/pacman.conf<\/code> file in your favorite text editor (as root).<\/p>\n<p>Inside of the text editor, look for \u201cmultilib\u201d and remove the # symbol. Be sure also to remove the # symbol from the lines directly below. Then, save your edits and use the <strong>pacman<\/strong> command below.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo pacman -Syy\n<\/pre>\n<p>Finally, install Steam on your Arch Linux system using the <strong>pacman<\/strong> command.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo pacman -S steam\n<\/pre>\n<h4>Fedora\/OpenSUSE<\/h4>\n<p>Are you a Fedora or an OpenSUSE Linux user? If so, you\u2019ll be able to get Steam working on your system using software repositories included with the operating system. However, the Flatpak version of Steam tends to work better, so we suggest following those instructions instead.<\/p>\n<h4>Flatpak<\/h4>\n<p>If you want to use the Flatpak version of Steam, you\u2019ll have to install the Flatpak runtime. To set up the runtime, please follow our guide on the subject.<\/p>\n<p>After setting up the Flatpak runtime, enter the two commands below to get Steam working.<\/p>\n<pre>\nflatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https:\/\/flathub.org\/repo\/flathub.flatpakrepo\n<\/pre>\n<pre>\nflatpak install flathub com.valvesoftware.Steam\n<\/pre>\n<h3>Install \u200eArma 3 on Linux<\/h3>\n<p>With Steam installed, launch it on the desktop and log in. Then, follow the step-by-step instructions below to get Arma 3 working on Linux.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> Find the \u201cSteam\u201d menu inside of Steam and click on it with the mouse. Then, select the \u201cSettings\u201d button inside of the window. When you\u2019ve clicked on the \u201cSettings\u201d button, find the \u201cSteam Play\u201d button to access the Steam Play area.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-293847 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-play-arma-3-on-linux.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"689\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Inside of the Steam, Play area, check both the \u201cEnable Steam Play for supported titles\u201d box and the \u201cEnable Steam Play for all other titles\u201d box. Finally, select the \u201cOK\u201d button to confirm your settings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> Find the \u201cStore\u201d button inside of Steam and select the search box. Find the \u201cLibrary\u201d button and select it to access your Steam games library when you\u2019ve purchased the game.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4:<\/strong> Inside your Steam games library, locate \u201cArma 3\u201d and click on it with the mouse. When you\u2019ve selected \u201cArma 3,\u201d find the blue \u201cINSTALL\u201d button and select it with the mouse.<\/p>\n<p>Selecting the blue \u201cINSTALL\u201d button will start the download process for Arma 3. This game will take a bit of time to download.
