This guide will show you how you can run Arch Linux alongside Windows 11.<\/p>\n<p>This guide assumes you\u2019ve already installed Windows 11 on your computer\u2019s hard drive. The Calam Arch Linux installer uses an easy-to-use GUI to set up vanilla Arch Linux.<\/p>\n<p>We are using Calam Arch Linux as opposed to the traditional Arch Linux installer because it configures partitioning and UEFI automatically. However, if you would prefer to set up Arch Linux by hand, please follow our guide to installing Arch Linux.<\/p>\n<h2>Downloading Calam Arch Linux installer and Etcher<\/h2>\n<p>The Calam Arch Linux installer is distributed via an ISO file. To get your hands on it, head over to the project\u2019s SourceForge page. Once on the page, find \u201cCalam-Arch-Installer-2021-12.iso\u201d and download it.<\/p>\n<p>Note: if there is a newer release of the Calam Arch ISO file, download that version instead of the one listed in this guide.<\/p>\n<p>After downloading the Calam Arch Linux ISO file to your computer, you will need to download the latest release of Etcher to the computer. Head over to the official Etcher website to get the newest Etcher app.<\/p>\n<p>Once on the website, download the latest release of Etcher to your computer, install it and start it up.<\/p>\n<h2>Creating Calam Arch Linux USB<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-368691 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-dual-boot-arch-linux-and-windows-11.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"785\" srcset=\"https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-dual-boot-arch-linux-and-windows-11.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-dual-boot-arch-linux-and-windows-11-1.jpg 300w, https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-dual-boot-arch-linux-and-windows-11-2.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-dual-boot-arch-linux-and-windows-11-3.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>To create the Calam Linux USB, follow the step-by-step instructions below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> Locate the \u201cFlash from file\u201d button inside of the Etcher application and click on it with the mouse. After you select this button, a pop-up window will appear. Using this pop-up window, browse the Calam Arch Linux ISO file and click on it to add it to the app.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> After adding the Calam Arch Linux ISO to Etcher, plug a USB flash drive into your computer. Then, find the \u201cSelect target\u201d button. Upon clicking on \u201cSelect target,\u201d select your USB flash drive in the menu.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong> Find the \u201cFlash!\u201d button and click on it to start the USB creation process. Keep in mind that this process will take time to complete. When the creation process is finished, close Etcher.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4:<\/strong> After closing the Etcher application, reboot your computer. Then, log into your PC\u2019s BIOS. Look through the BIOS and configure it to boot from USB so that you can access the Calam Arch Linux installer.<\/p>\n<h2>Installing Arch Linux alongside Windows 11<\/h2>\n<p>To install Arch Linux alongside Windows 11, start by booting up the USB installer from BIOS. Once it is booted, you should see a desktop with blue wallpaper. Next, locate the black Arch Linux logo and click on it to launch the installer on the desktop. Then, follow the step-by-step instructions below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> On the \u201cWelcome to the Arch Linux Rolling installer\u201d page, click on the \u201cNext\u201d button with the mouse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> Using the UI, select your timezone. You can choose your timezone by choosing where you live on the map. Click \u201cNext\u201d when done.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong> Choose your keyboard layout in the installer. Then, select the \u201cNext\u201d button to move to the next page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4:<\/strong> Find the \u201cInstall alongside\u201d option in the Arch Linux Installer and click on it with the mouse if you are installing Arch Linux with Windows 11 on the same hard drive.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-414570 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-dual-boot-arch-linux-and-windows-11.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"893\" srcset=\"https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-dual-boot-arch-linux-and-windows-11.png 1200w, https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-dual-boot-arch-linux-and-windows-11-4.png 300w, https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-dual-boot-arch-linux-and-windows-11-5.png 1024w, https:\/\/files2.tojikon.net\/files-cloud\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/how-to-dual-boot-arch-linux-and-windows-11-6.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Note: If you have one hard drive dedicated to Windows 11 and one hard drive dedicated to Arch Linux, do \u201cSelect storage device,\u201d choose the Arch drive, and select \u201cErase disk\u201d instead.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 5:<\/strong> After selecting \u201cInstall alongside,\u201d use the UI in the \u201cAfter\u201d area to make your Arch Linux partition bigger or smaller. Next, find the \u201cInstall\u201d button to start the installation process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 8:<\/strong> When the installation is complete, reboot your Arch Linux system by selecting it in the GRUB boot menu. Launch a terminal window on the desktop once you\u2019ve loaded up Arch Linux.<\/p>\n<p>Inside of the terminal window, open up the <code>\/etc\/default\/grub<\/code> text file in the Nano text editor.<\/p>\n<p>Note: if you do not have Nano installed, install it with <strong>sudo pacman -S nano<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo nano -w \/etc\/default\/grub\n<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Step 9:<\/strong> Create a new, blank line in the <code>\/etc\/default\/grub<\/code> file and add the following code.<\/p>\n<p><code>GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=false<\/code><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 10:<\/strong> Save the edits to the file in Nano by pressing the <strong>Ctrl + O<\/strong> buttons on the keyboard. Then, close the text editor by pressing <strong>Ctrl + X<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 11:<\/strong> Using the <strong>pacman<\/strong> command, install the OS Prober package. If you are using UEFI, you\u2019ll also need to install EFI Boot Manager.<\/p>\n<pre>\nsudo pacman -S efibootmgr os-prober\n<\/pre>\n<p><strong>Step 12:<\/strong> Using the\u00a0command below, re-generate your Grub configuration.
